A NEW YEAR'S EVE MESSAGE - DECEMBER 31, 2009

TEXT: II Corinthians 13:5; Hebrews 2:1; Psalms 139:23 (All scriptures come from King James)

We're at the end of 2009! What have you done spiritually for God? Are you in the same place you were last year (2008)?

Now is the time to take a personal inventory, or examine yourself; ask yourself these questions:

                                                 (1) Am I the person I want to be (in Christ)?
                                                 (2) Am I the person I ought to be?
                                                 (3) Am I the person God wants me to be?

inventory is a detailed list; ought is a duty or obligation.

II Corinthians 13:5 says, "Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves how that Jesus Christ is in you..."

Everyone needs to know for certain whether they will live forever in heaven or forever in hell. We all should examine ourselves so we will know that if Jesus would come today, where we would spend eternity. Examine yourself and REPENT, except Jesus in you life; examine lifestyle, your ways, your conversation; this would determine where you would live forever.

Hebrews 2: 1 says, "Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip."

We have a duty and obligation to listen and obey the Word of God. At the end of our journey here on earth we will be without excuse; We will stand before God to give an account to the things we did while living on earth.

Psalms 139:23 says, "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts."

When we ask the Lord to "search me" (meaning examine me), we are saying to the Lord whatever He finds in me that's not like Him I want Him to move it. Jesus knows all about me because He made me, and He knows my heart, my desire, my thoughts.

I say to you today, LET THIS NEW YEAR'S EVE be a NEW BEGINNING FOR YOU! Decide now where you will spend eternity.

Jesus said in St. John 3:16-17, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
